When warm coats for needy kids are on the menu.
The recipient of the first annual McGuffin Grant was Coat Angels, a Chicago-based nonprofit that provides new coats to local school kids who would otherwise go without. The group came to us with an innovative idea: They hoped to partner with Chicago-based bars and restaurants who would agree to donate a percentage of sales of specially selected menu items to help Coat Angels buy more coats, fleeces and hats for children in need. The program, called Drinking & Dining for Warmth, was born when Coat Angels secured sponsorship backing from Time Out Chicago and the participation of several Chicago dining and drinking establishments.
McGuffin created the program’s distinctive logo and produced a variety of support materials like window clings, menu templates, ads and other materials. More broadly, we worked with Coat Angels to update their organization’s logo and color palette, and we created a brochure and a website template design, all reflecting Coat Angels grassroots, DIY approach to their work.
